Test Run

We tried our test run of the solar oven.

It is easy to set up, seems to heat well, and is pretty straight forward in function.

We baked brownies....unfortunately, we had to finish them in the oven for a little less than 10 minutes.

Not because of an error with the solar oven....truly operator error.

I didn't bother to check the weather to see that we would have an afternoon shower coming in.
I saw the sun and just said let's do this.

So all in all, I am pleased with the test run.
I fully expected a bit of a learning curve and I want this now so if I ever have to use this in a time when it is a necessity I will have the kinks worked out.

Now that I have checked the weather, I see that we are looking at a week of cloudy, rainy weather.
It looks like it may be a bit before I try again.

  1. Too bad the weather did not work in your favor, but how neat that you have a solar cooker now. We once made a solar oven for my daughter's girl scout troop using a pizza box and made smores. It was a huge success. I wish you much success with yours. :)

    1. Thanks! I'm sure that unless we have an unusual summer I will have plenty of opportunity for hot, sunny days.

Due to a large volume of spamming I’ve had to undo the “anyone” can comment feature. Hoping this lets all of us not have to wade through the hoopla.
