Bits and Pieces of my Days

In no particular order, I've been trying out the Flylady approach to cleaning.  While I liked my schedule, I am finding without as many people around it was overkill for what I now need.  I'm also totally decluttering my craft room and setting it up for the dual purpose of a guest room as well.  I didn't realize how much stuff I was storing -- things for me, things for other people, and then things I just had because I felt guilty about the idea of getting rid of them. My plan for Lent was/is to carry out one bag of some shape or size everyday.  Some days it has been to the trash can, but other days I've carried out things to donate.  Today I loaded out 2 bags of garbage and filled the car with stuff for Goodwill.
(I know the machines look excessive.  One of the extras is an embroidery machine and the other is a serger.  The third machine is actually my daughter's sewing machine.  With the closet doors open, we are able to use that desk top to sew on as well.
It works great if I need two machines for a project or if we both want to sew at the same time.

We rarely have overnight guests, and family won't mind my craft stuff.
With our son no longer living in state, when they visit I need a place for them to sleep.

I also took time to work in the ends for the afghan for the couch.  I like the blue with it.  Now I still have to do my throw pillows.

I hemmed my daughter's jeans and I am glad to say there's no noticeable difference between the factory work and mine.

The BYOB cereal party was a success.
I also got to meet this sweetie -- his name is Comet and he was quite a lap full for me.

  1. What a nice big craft room. I've been organizing my craft things too. One of the things is cutting all the wool into foldable pieces so it saves a lot of space. Heard of Flylady but haven't looked into her yet.

    1. It was my son's bedroom...lol. For years my craft room meant boxes under the bed.
Flylady isn't particularly revolutionary, but I do love her daily "to do" lists. I'm a bit of list maker and I like that I can download her app and just click them off that way.

  2. Good for you with the decluttering. I am trying but doing a poor job of it. Getting serious tomorrow afternoon though!

    1. Thanks. I don't know how we acquire so much stuff. (A few years ago we consolidated two households into one and mercy, I think I am still finding things that just weren't dealt with.)

  3. The blue and white color combo of the afghan is classic, well done!

    1. Thank you. I was suprised at how well the blue goes with it. I wasn't sure about the cream, but I was afraid if I used tan yarn it would blend in too much.

  4. I need to. I still have ALL my cross stitch books and kits and we know how seldom I cross stitch anymore

    1. It is so hard. I finally just said someone needs to be enjoying these things.

  5. Wow, everything looks so good. I love those black and clear drawers. Do you have them stacked in threes? It looks like the ones with three drawers and then stacked in threes. That would make for a lot of storage. What a great idea. :)

    1. They are. I just didn't add the wheels. I keep any slightly heavy stuff in the bottom and get progressively lighter as I go up.

3 stack well. I can see all kinds of uses for them. Cost wise, I bought them online from Walmart because they had the best price...this was some years ago. I joke with my husband that if I ever "re do" our closet, that is what I am going to use in there.

Due to a large volume of spamming I’ve had to undo the “anyone” can comment feature. Hoping this lets all of us not have to wade through the hoopla.
