Half Price!

The doctor recently adjusted my daughter's medication for Crohn's Disease and the inflamtion in her body has gone down so much that she has dropped a pants size or two.  She loves to wear jeans and is slightly taller at 5'9" , and we have the best luck finding her jeans at Old Navy.  We had no choice but to get something for her to wear -- her pants were literally sliding off of her more than I could easily take up.  So waiting for a sale wasn't an option for us.

We had to run errands and Old Navy was on our list of stopping places.  We spent a while trying on different styles and sizes until we finally stumbled upon the "perfect" jeans.  I'm trying to remember being a teenager and how the "perfect" jeans were so important.  She was upset and frustrated because they only had them in one shade of blue.  Being older, I said we could just buy several pairs of the same color.....what was I thinking?  I'm pretty sure based on the look she gave me that I must have been speaking in tongues or have grown a second head....either way that was not a winning suggestion.

While she put back a couple of pairs, I wandered through the clearance section.  I hadn't been going to go through it because I honestly don't need anything.  I am so glad I did!

Guess what I found?  4 pairs of jeans in varying shades of blue....in her size...in the preferred fit...and 50% off!  They were new with tags, but because they had been bought online and returned they couldn't sell them at full price.  They were an online only kind of thing.  Three pairs were tall sizes, yet too long, and I will be hemming them.  The fourth oddly enough fits in length.  So I paid (with tax) $65 for 4 brand new pair of jeans for her!  I'll gladly hem three pair of pants for a $65 savings....in fact, if I can find a job hemming them at that rate I may take it.  It will take longer to thread the machine.

  1. WOw! What an awesome find! Good for you to have sorted through the clearance rack. I chuckled as I read this post, having 4 kids with 2 still in their late teens, I am often given "the look." LOL!

    1. I get that look a lot. I was highly amused that they had to sell them at a discount because they came from their online store.

    1. I know exactly what you mean -- it always hurts to write that check for taxes even though I've planned for them. I hate taking money out of savings...lol.

  3. Nice score and thanks for the laugh! I am all too aware of "the look" as well with 18 and almost 15 year old daughters here! =)

  4. Great deal! Do you have receive Old Navy emails? You get a discount for signing up, but they often have jeans promos. Now that your daughter knows what style she likes, you might be able to take advantage of the online sales. Assuming she needs any more jeans while still considering this style to be 'in.' ;)

    1. I do not receive their emails, but thanks for the tip.
(As a teenager of the 80's, I have to admit I have a bit of deja vu walking into stores sometimes now....some items just seem so familiar. Lol)

  5. Fantastic score on the jeans ! Ah the benefits of having only sons! "The Look" was virtually nonexistent. (Well at least where fashion was concerned)

    1. LOL. --- My son was easier to deal with as far as clothes, too. His biggest thing was he is tall and skinny. We had a hard time finding anything off the rack for him. Amusingly he is married now and I can still go and buy him an item of clothing, present it to him, and he loves it.

    1. Thanks. I joke with my husband that part of shopping is the thrill of the hunt.
      (Thanks for stopping by.)

  7. That is so great you found the jeans. There are times when I've needed to buy jeans for any price for a certain child who did not fit into anything, also. It is such a relief when you find them for a reasonable price, isn't it? Whew!

    1. It is a relief! I remember one winter all I could find for my lanky son was sweat pants. I couldn't find anything else long enough with a small enough waist. (They had drawstrings.) Thank goodness he was young and we were homeschooling. Poor kid lived in sweat pants that whole winter.

Due to a large volume of spamming I’ve had to undo the “anyone” can comment feature. Hoping this lets all of us not have to wade through the hoopla.
